Last week we have started 2 more mobile medical clinics in predominantly impoverished tribal areas.
One in Katthiwada block in Alirajpur district which has the Bhil tribe ( it is also the district which has lowest literacy rate in the whole country) and in Mehadwani block in Dindori district which has the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) of Baiga community.
Both these clinics cover 45 villages each over a fortnightly period. A doctor, an assistant, visit the villages in a vehicle as per a pre-fixed schedule. The service is free and medication is also given free. Entire cost, including doctor charges, vehicle fuel, medicine amount to Rs 54 per patient.
It is doctor at your doorstep service for people far removed from any hospital and living in remote and often inaccessible areas.
We have now 17 such mobile clinics in 8 different districts, in all covering 792 tribal villages.
